Crystal Gaynor is our new After School Coordinator for School Age children. She recently relocated to this area last year from eastern Oklahoma. Crystal holds a BA in Early Childhood Education and has 12 years of experience working in public education. Crystal began her teaching career in the ELL department, specializing in work with migrant students. She has taught general education (Pre-K-12th grade) and her last 3 years were spent teaching in Spec Ed. as the Multi-handicapped teacher. Taking a break from teaching she began 2 years as a court advocate for the agency Help in Crisis out of Tahlequah, OK. There she worked with victims of Domestic Violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking, and child abuse. Crystal helped them get into shelter, help with their court cases, write protective orders, etc. Recently she taught as the Master Teacher in our 4’s program at the CDC before changing over to the After School Program.
Crystal has 5 children with her fiancé Jim. Her son Dawson volunteers his time here at the Y helping in various areas and her youngest attends school at the CDC. Crystal hopes to grow our after-school program using her knowledge from teaching and grant writing. She is very excited to be here at the YMCA.
