COVID UPDATE

(as of 4/29/20)

The plans for re-opening are as follows:

Soft Opening (pool will be closed)

Friday, May 1st Open @ Noon- Close at 9pm

Saturday, May 2nd 8am-5pm

Sunday, May 3rd 1-5pm

Monday, May 4th we will go back to regular business hours (pool will be open)

 

QUICK UPDATE: 

  1. No sliver sneakers for phase 1 re-opening
  2. Mundy’s classes will go live on GPF YMCA Members Facebook (zumba will be removed after, yoga will stay)
  3. Sigrid’s evening class will be “Individual Water Fitness” until she returns after Phase 1
  4. No Spin Classes- members can call 2 days in advance to reserve their spot and can do the spin classes via GPF YMCA Members on Facebook.

Guidelines for Opening

YMCA Staff will be cleaning throughout the day.

YMCA staff and members are encouraged to wear protective face covers.

YMCA staff, members and program participants are encouraged to take their temperature prior to visiting the YMCA each day. Those with a fever are encouraged to self-quarantine.

YMCA staff, members and program participants are encouraged to social distance (six feet apart)

YMCA staff, members and program participants are encouraged to keep group sizes to ten or less.

Youth under the age of 16 are not permitted to visit the YMCA without a parent or guardian present.

The YMCA will not be accepting guest passes during phase 1 of re-opening.

The YMCA will accept new members during phase 1 of re-opening.

Individuals entering the Y will need to sign in and out each time they come to the Y.

Individuals 65 years and older, or who have a compromised immune system are encouraged to continue to self isolate.

Individuals are encouraged to bring water bottles and refrain from using drinking fountains.

Failure to respect social distancing, cleaning requirements, etc. could result in suspension and/or termination of the YMCA membership.

All rooms in the facility will be open

The showers in the locker-room will be closed.

Staff members that are 65 or older can decide not to return to their regular work during phase 1.

 

Health & Fitness

The YMCA reserves the right to limit class sizes based on the interest level.

The spin room is for individual use only (no spin classes will be offered in phase 1). Individuals wanting to use the spin room, must sign up in advance.

Fitness Class Instructors need to ensure participants are keeping social distance (six feet apart).

All rooms in the facility will have room capacities.

Water fitness classes will be encouraged to maintain six feet of distance between participants.

Every other piece of cardio equipment will be taken offline to enforce social distance.

Silver Sneakers classes will be canceled during phase 1.

Pickleball participants are encouraged to bring their own racquet.

Individuals that have their own mat for fitness classes are encouraged to bring and use it.

Racquetball is open for members. However, play is encouraged only within the same household unit and pick-up games are strongly discouraged.

Members are asked to bring their own water bottle and refrain from using the drinking fountains.

 

Aquatics

The hot tub and sauna will be closed during phase 1 (as to keep social distance)

Water fitness classes will be encouraged to maintain six feet of distance between participants.

Some instructors will not offer water fitness classes, in that case the pool will be open for individual water fitness.

No swimming lessons will be offered the first week of being opened.

No group swimming lessons will be offered throughout the summer.

Private swim lessons will resume May 11th.

Lap swimmers are encouraged to take their own lane and discouraged from sharing a lane. Advanced registration is not required.

Lap swimmers may need to shorten their workout as to provide adequate time for others waiting.

No open swim will be offered during phase 1.

 

Youth & Family / Childcare Programs

Y staff will take temperatures of youth and staff twice a day (at entry and at lunch- recording the results).

Encourage staff and youth to wear masks

Keep rations to 1:10

No marketing or specials- growth to take place organically

Children need to bring water bottles and refrain from using the drinking fountain.

Tot’s Gym will open on Monday, May 4th.

 

Sports

Sports are on a hold during phase 1
