Letter from the CEO
Thank you for your continued support of the Great Plains Family YMCA. As a leading non-profit, the YMCA strives to provide programs and services that supports its cause of Healthy Living, Youth Development and Social Responsibility.
Every year the YMCA conducts an Annual Campaign that raises money for those who cannot afford to pay for their YMCA membership and programs. Including members who are striving to get control of their health and need the support, encouragement and expertise a YMCA membership provides. Further, this funding supports program scholarships for families needing to provide extracurricular activities for their children on a limited budget, and grants membership access to seniors needing exercise and socialization on a fixed income. In addition to these services, the YMCA also provides scholarships for child care and community swimming lessons to all second graders in the area.
However, sometimes when you give of yourself, you forget to take care of yourself. Over time, the need to give increases and the need to take care of the one giving does as well. As the new Executive Director of the Great Plains Family YMCA, that is the position in which I find myself. The YMCA and Child Development Center (CDC) need facility repairs that have been neglected and have increased over the years. Because of this need, I have created a facility fund in addition to our annual campaign. This will allow donors to decide where they want their donation to go.
If you are a potential donor and looking to make the decision of where to give, below is information you may find useful. As the Executive Director, I am always available to talk to you about your donation and how it can be put to the best use. If you have questions or would like to talk about funding a major project, I would greatly appreciate and welcome that conversation.
I would like to thank you for supporting the YMCA and the Great Plains community.

The Annual Campaign supports the community by investing IN our community through YMCA scholarships towards Y Programs like Youth In Government, Safety Around Water, Youth Sports, Childcare/Camp, Memberships, Route 66 Thunder, and more. Your contributions make these possible.
Donations to the heritage fund are invested into an Endowment Fund. The YMCA has created this fund to allow donations to grow and build interest and ensure the YMCA is always in a sound financial position. In 2019 the YMCA will conduct its Annual Heritage Club dinner and invites you to attend.
The building the YMCA occupies was initially built for roller skating and racquetball. While renovations have been done to make the facility function as a YMCA, much more could be done. Giving to the facility fund, allows money to be set aside for building renovation and major projects.
We’re always happy to help with any questions you may have about your YMCA! Feel free to call, email, come by, or fill out our Y Contact Form and someone will be in touch with you quickly.
